With running many children’s events and holiday clubs we have looked at the area of crafts and see how great it is.
Today with television, computer games and gameboys, craft is not often done at home. It is something we have found that children therefore love doing.
Often we as children’s workers can feel inadequate and a bit daunted by the idea and so we want to encourage people that it is well worth while having in your programme.
For ourselves as we looked at crafts that were achievable by both children and leaders, worthwhile making (not just a flat coloured sheet) and appropriate, we began to source material and obtain equipment, which is how our craft resources came about.
Training in crafts has developed from this. It covers things like, equipment and resources that are available, ideas, practical advice and where to start.
